Business Impact Analysis - Continuity Planners Risk Assessment Strategies

For each of your critical business processes, you need to answer the following:-

  • The proportion, components or volume of the business as usual work that you would need to still be doing even in a disaster
  • How long could you simply do nothing for? (in hours)
  • What sorts of manual workarounds could you use for each process so the critical components are still able to be sustained?
  • How long could you keep doing those manual workarounds for?
  • What would you say is the Maximum Acceptable Outage (in hours) that you could cope with before doing manual workarounds got to a point where the business survival was in trouble?
  • What would you say is the level of Acceptable Data Loss? Ie how many hours of data processed could you live without if it’s lost forever. Can you re-enter it from manual records?
